International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. There is lots of activity worldwide as groups celebrate women’s achievements.
Today is one of the most important days of the year to:
- celebrate women’s achievements
- raise awareness about women’s equality
- lobby for accelerated gender parity
- fundraise for female charities
Do We Still Need It?
Yes! There’s no place for complacency. According to the World Economic Forum, none of us will see gender parity in our lifetimes or many of our children. Its thought that Gender parity will take almost a century to achieve. It starts one step at a time and International Wommen’s Day is a great rally call.
This year’s Theme ‘Choose To Challenge’
A challenging world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change
Premier Community Celebrates International Women’s Day
Skills for Care say 82% of the adult social care workforce is female. That is a massive force for change in our industry, both for women and those we support.
It’s easy to look and be inspired by women like Emmeline Pankhurst, Marie Curie, Florence Nightingale, Rosa Parks and Malala Yousafzai. They are all amazing women who chose to challenge and paid a huge price for their passion and drive.
But from the stories I hear every week, we have some fantastic women hero’s here at Premier Community. Together, we can achieve so much. Remember, a challenging company is an alert company, and from the challenge comes change’. So let’s all choose to challenge this International Women’s Day and beyond.
