Mobility Scooter-Friendly Parks in Mansfield & Ashfield

Accessible Local Parks Around Kings Mill

Getting outdoors should feel easy and enjoyable, not like a challenge. Across Mansfield and Ashfield, there are plenty of green spaces where you can make the most of the warmer weather with confidence.

We’ve put together a selection of local parks that are suitable for mobility scooter users, so you can explore independently and enjoy everything these outdoor spaces have to offer this summer.

Mansfield

Titchfield Park
Located close to the town centre, Titchfield Park is a convenient choice for a quick and accessible day out. Set around the River Maun, the park features footbridges linking both sides, along with clearly defined paths that guide you through the space.

The routes are generally flat and easy to navigate, making them ideal for mobility scooters, particularly for shorter, more relaxed visits.

There’s also a great community event taking place here. Disability Nottinghamshire is hosting a “Roll and Stroll” wellbeing event on 12th May 2026 at 11am, meeting at the pavilion. It’s a welcoming opportunity to get moving in a supportive environment, whether you’re walking, wheeling, or simply coming along for the social side.

Carr Bank Park
Carr Bank Park offers a peaceful and scenic setting, with established paths that are generally suitable for mobility scooters, especially for shorter outings. The gentle routes take you through green open spaces, mature trees, and well-maintained gardens.

While it hasn’t been specifically designed as an accessible park, it still provides a comfortable, low-effort experience. It’s a great option if you’re looking for somewhere quieter, with a steady and manageable route.

King George V Park
Situated next to Berry Hill, this park benefits from ongoing improvements in the surrounding area. It’s a simple, open space with flat terrain and straightforward paths, making it easy to navigate without committing to a longer journey.

As development continues at Berry Hill, accessibility and facilities here are steadily improving, making it an increasingly practical choice for a calm, easy outing.

Ashfield

Brierley Forest Park
Brierley Forest Park is a standout option for mobility scooter users and a great example of how outdoor spaces can be made fully inclusive. Once an industrial site, it has been transformed into a welcoming and accessible green space.

With over two miles of wide, surfaced trails through woodland and open landscapes, the park is well suited to both mobility scooters and wheelchairs. There are also a visitor centre, café, and accessible parking, making it ideal for a longer, more leisurely visit without concerns about uneven terrain.

Sutton Lawn
Right in the heart of Ashfield, Sutton Lawn is a popular local park that has seen several accessibility improvements in recent years. Pathways have been upgraded, restrictive gates removed, and access routes made easier including those leading down to the lake.

It’s a lovely spot for a relaxed afternoon, offering gentle routes and plenty of fresh air.

Kings Mill Reservoir
Kings Mill Reservoir is another excellent mobility-friendly location, situated between Sutton-in-Ashfield and Mansfield. The circular route is around one mile long, with a hard, mostly flat surface that makes it well suited to mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

You can enjoy peaceful water views, local wildlife, and a welcoming atmosphere with a steady flow of visitors. To help you plan your visit, we’ve also included a video below showing what the route looks like when using a mobility scooter, giving you a clear idea of the layout and overall experience.

Spending time outdoors should feel simple, relaxing, and accessible and across Mansfield and Ashfield, that’s becoming more achievable than ever. With more parks offering smoother paths, improved facilities, and thoughtful layouts, there are now plenty of options for mobility scooter users and anyone seeking accessible green spaces.

From fully accessible routes at Kings Mill Reservoir and Brierley Forest to improving areas like Berry Hill, there’s a great mix of reliable favourites and exciting developments. Even more traditional parks, such as Titchfield and Carr Bank, still offer welcoming spaces for shorter, easy visits.

Whether you’re after a gentle loop by the water, a quiet woodland ride, or a quick trip close to town, there’s something here to suit every pace and preference.
