Cost-Efficient Care: How Much Does Home Care Cost?

Typewriter with terms of service for home care costs

How Our Home Care Costs Are Calculated

  1. Membership Standards: As members of the UK Home Care Association (UKHCA), we use their guidelines to assess the minimum price for quality home care. For 2024-25, the suggested minimum rate from the UKHCA is £28.53 per hour, which means our home care costs are lower than the average rate.
  2. Local Market Analysis: Each year, our finance team reviews local council rates and competitor pricing alongside the local job market to ensure our rates are fair and that we retain our skilled caregivers.
  3. Quality of Service: We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality care, consistently evaluating the added value we offer compared to other providers.
  4. Growth Benefits: As a family-run business, we leverage economies of scale, allowing us to optimise costs while maintaining service excellence through advanced technology.

Fair Pricing and Visit Structure

Understanding how much home care costs includes recognising our transparent pricing structure, where we charge for banded visits instead of actual time spent. Our base rates for private care users are as follows:

  • 0-30 minute visits: From £14.40 per visit
  • 31-45 minute visits: From £19.10 per visit
  • 45-60+ minute visits: From £24.10 per hour

For additional flexibility, we also offer:

  • Waking Nights: From £24.90
  • Unsociable Hours Charge (Weekends & Bank Holidays): An additional £1.00 per hour.

Our pricing reflects travel costs to and from a fixed address, and any extra mileage incurred for appointments or shopping will be charged separately. For more details on how much home care costs and advice about your payment options, refer to our Cost of Home Care guides.
