Lynsey Hind is our Registered Branch Manager for our Nottinghamshire care team.
After much pestering on my part (sorry, Lynsey), I finally pinned her down to learn more about her journey into care and why she loves working for Premier Community.
When did you start working for Premier Community?
“I started working for Premier Community in June 2016.”
Tell us about your journey to Nottinghamshire Care Team Leader…
“I joined Premier Community after a long career in Sales and Account Management. I had always been interested in caring and started my Access in Nursing when the kids were younger, but I decided to drop out and work full-time instead. I knew that by joining Premier Community, I eventually wanted to go back into management, but I needed to learn everything about Health and social care first, so I started as a carer, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
“After five months, I saw an advert for joining the on-call team, so I applied and got this. This involved supporting carers in the field on-call, monitoring compliance, and covering shifts. I started doing this once a week and then eventually did more shifts, so I was spending half my time as a carer and half my time in the office. I started working the day shifts in the office and took this opportunity to learn about the business model and how everything worked.
“I gained a lot of experience talking to social workers and handling complaints with families. I was then given the opportunity to learn how to do care assessments in the community, and then a position came up as a care manager, which involved managing the service users, carrying out reviews and setting up new care packages. I did this for about a year; then, after the business was restructured, I was moved to a position that worked alongside the Registered Manager as a Business Service Manager, where I supported the registered manager with complaints alongside safeguarding referrals and investigations.
“All this experience led to a position as a Registered Manager for the Nottinghamshire care team, and I got my registration in October 2019 – the rest is history.”
Do you hold any qualifications in Health & Social Care?
“NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, and an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.”
Can you describe a typical day for you with Premier Community?
“It is difficult to explain a typical day as every day is different, which is why I love working in this role. Some days can be a breeze where I can do my care assessments and deal with any concerns, but if dealing with serious safeguarding issues, this can throw the whole day off and take up most of the day/week. Most days are very busy, and I am always kept on my toes, which is what I love and keeps me driven and focused.
What do you enjoy most about working at Premier Community?
“What I enjoy the most about working here is supporting our clients and staff. I am very passionate about people, and ending my day at work knowing I have supported someone and positively impacted someone’s life or working day is what keeps me going.
“I also enjoy working with my work family – I spend most of my time at work and have good relationships with everyone. Having a positive team around me ensures we do a great job and positively impact the people we serve and the carers who are out there on the frontline.”
Tell us a bit about yourself outside of work…
“I am a very family-orientated person and love nothing more than spending time with my family outside of work. I have two grown-up children, one who lives with me and the other at University in Liverpool.
“I love to travel and go on holidays, and everyone who knows me knows that my whole life is focused on where I am going on my next holiday (I am a bit obsessed). I have a very big bucket list and try to go somewhere new every year.
“My other passion is my two cats, who I adore. I am a bit of a cat lady, and I would have 20 if I could, but I don’t want my house to be wrecked!”
