With the longer, brighter days upon us, there’s no better time to get out and about with confidence and comfort. At Premier Community, our dedicated shop managers know exactly what customers need to make the most of the summer months. They have compiled a list of Summer Mobility Essentials that will enhance your mobility experience this season.
We asked our shop managers to put together a list of the products they think will be the most beneficial during the warmer days. Below is their guide to summer-ready mobility aids and other Summer Mobility Essentials you might want to consider.
Maureen – Woodseats, Sheffield
Maureen has been part of the Premier Community team for 10 years. She began as a care professional before moving into retail, and she has been managing our Sheffield store for just over five years.
She recommends two Atom products to help you enjoy summer to the fullest.
Atom Fold Scooter
“New for 2025, the Atom Fold Scooter is a lightweight folding scooter, weighing just 14.2kg excluding the batteries — making it one of the lightest scooters on the market,” says Maureen. “It can be lifted into the boot of a car with ease, and its simple two-step folding mechanism means it can be unfolded and folded in minutes.”
The scooter has a 10Ah lithium battery offering a 9-mile range, depending on terrain. It also has space to carry a spare battery, doubling your range to 18 miles — perfect for full days out. Unlike many folding scooters, it features a unique front basket that folds flat.

Atom Power Chair
Scooterpac describes the Atom Power Chair as one of the lightest folding electric wheelchairs in the world, weighing just 13.2kg. It supports up to 19 stone, has flip-up arms for easy entry and exit, and comes with attendant controls so it can be operated by someone walking behind as well as the person in the seat.
It can also be switched into neutral to act as a manually pushed transit chair. Its carbon fibre and aluminium frame is supported by two large rear wheels, giving it strength and stability. Powered by dual 5.2Ah lithium batteries, it offers an impressive range of up to 12 miles per charge.
Maureen recalls, “A customer recently came back to tell me how their trip to London was made so much easier thanks to this chair — from getting on and off trains to navigating busy streets. They’re now excited to get out more often this summer.”
Kate – Kings Mill Hospital, Mansfield
Kate joined Premier Community in 2021 as a shop assistant and became Branch Manager later that same year. She’s chosen two products to keep you comfortable and supported on summer days out.
Integrity Aries Hybrid 2-in-1
“I think the Integrity Aries Hybrid 2-in-1 is perfect for day trips,” Kate says. “You can use it as a rollator for support, and when you need a rest, it converts into a transit wheelchair so someone can push you. It’s a great space-saver, as you don’t need to take two separate items in the car.”
Cosyfeet Natasha Sandal
Kate also recommends the Cosyfeet Natasha, ideal for warmer weather and particularly for those with swollen feet. “It’s lightweight, supportive, and has three adjustable straps,” she explains. “It comes in Rose, Navy, and Stone — perfect for almost any summer occasion.”
Lynne – Ilkeston, Derbyshire
With 18 years of care experience before joining Premier Community in 2018, Lynne became Ilkeston’s Branch Manager in August 2022. She’s chosen one scooter and one chair that she feels stand out.
Monarch Genie Scooter
“The Monarch Genie is a lovely little scooter that folds easily and compactly,” says Lynne. “It looks great — like you’ve spent more than you have — and comes in blue or red. I’d pick red, as a Nottingham Forest fan! It’s comfy, easy to use, and lightweight enough for me to carry around the shop.”
Balmoral Riser Recliner
“Of all the riser recliners we offer, the Balmoral is the comfiest,” Lynne says. “It’s great for taller people, lets you adjust lumbar and head support, and lies completely flat for an afternoon nap. It tips you up to make getting in and out easy, and it even has a heat function — if only it could make dinner!”
Jayne – Carlton, Nottingham
Jayne joined Premier Community in February 2024 and became Branch Manager shortly after. She’s chosen one footwear favourite and one scooter for summer.
Cosyfeet Victor & Vasco Trainers
“These men’s sports trainers are perfect for summer, made from breathable mesh and available in modern colours,” Jayne says. “One customer was so happy with them that he left the shop wearing them! They’re available with laces or Velcro, which is great for people with arthritis in their fingers. Lightweight and easy to pack, they’re ideal for holidays.”
Kymco Mini Comfort Boot Scooter
This stylish scooter comes in a variety of colours — not just the usual blue and red — with mink being a customer favourite. “It’s a great budget-friendly choice for short trips,” Jayne explains. “It splits into sections to fit in a car boot, and it’s simple to operate. Customers say it’s one of the most comfortable scooters for bumpy pavements.”
Paula – Swadlincote
The newest member of our mobility team, Paula manages our brand-new Swadlincote store. She’s picked one heavy-duty scooter and one lightweight powerchair for summer.
Sterling S700
“This scooter is perfect for our local area,” Paula says. “Here in the Heart of the National Forest, it’s built for trails as well as high streets. It can handle gradients up to 10 degrees, kerbs up to 100mm, and bigger obstacles thanks to its large 33cm tyres. Ours in the Approved Used section has been so well cared for — it won’t hang around for long!”
Monarch Air Pro Powerchair
Lightweight at only 12.5kg, the Monarch Air Pro folds easily for transport and storage. It offers a range of up to 6 miles, making it suitable for both outdoor trips and indoor use. “It’s even approved for air travel,” Paula notes, “so it can come with you wherever your next adventure takes you.”
