Meet Keeley – Team Leader
When Keeley was a little girl, she used to visit her great-grandma, first at home and later in a care home. While she was there, she’d watch the carers at work and help them bake cakes for the residents.
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives, even the little things I do can make someone’s day better.”
Today, Keeley is a Team Leader at our Swadlincote branch, and she’s built a career out of that passion.
Ten years in care
Keeley has worked in care for 10 years. Before joining us, she supported adults with learning disabilities in a small residential home, giving one-to-one care and helping people stay independent.
She joined Premier Community as a community carer in March 2025. Eight months later, she stepped up to Team Leader.
At first I was extremely nervous and unsure if I could do it having Sarah, my Registered Manager by my side gave me the confidence to take on the challenge.”
In December 2025, she also completed her Level 3 NVQ.
No two days the same
As a Team Leader, Keeley’s day is a mix of everything. She keeps rotas running smoothly and completes reviews and spot checks. She sets up care packages for new clients, speaks with health professionals and, when a carer is running late, she heads out to cover calls herself.
Being a team leader isn’t just about supporting the people we care for, it’s also about supporting the carers, solving problems and helping colleagues when they’re feeling overwhelmed.”
Every carer on her team has is able to contact Keeley
I know starting in care can be daunting, so I give a lot of encouragement. I want everyone to know they can come to me whenever they need it, just like my manager supported me.”
If you asked her team to describe her in three words, they’d say: reliable, supportive and resourceful.
Treat people like family
The values Keeley leans on most are honesty and hard work. The advice that shaped her is simple:
Treat everyone how you would want your own family to be treated.”
For her, good care means kindness, respect and dignity. It means listening, giving people time to speak and supporting them to stay as independent as possible.
One moment stays with her. She was visiting a lady who found it hard to accept new faces at the door. So Keeley tried something different and changed how she looked when she arrived. It worked.
From that day on, we had a close bond, and every time I visited she was really happy to see me. It taught me the importance of being patient and thinking outside the box.”
Why Premier Community?
I feel like this is the best company I’ve worked for in my ten years of care, I feel really supported by my branch and by head office. The team have really encouraged me and helped me build my confidence.
What keeps her here is knowing she makes a difference to clients and to the carers she leads. She also loves that there’s always more to learn.
There are so many progression opportunities, and everyone encourages each other to gain new skills.”
Off the clock
Away from work, Keeley shares her home with three rabbits, Reggie, Pika and Piglet, and a cat called Mocha. She loves day trips, camping weekends, shopping and car shows.
Care isn’t just a job because…
…it comes from the heart. It’s about building trust, forming meaningful connections and being there for people when they need you most.”
Could you be our next Keeley?
