Celebrating Our Care Newcomer Award Nominee: Sarah Robertson

Tags

When someone joins Premier Community and immediately feels like they’ve always been part of the family, you know you’ve found someone special. That’s exactly what happened with Sarah Robertson, one of our incredible nominees for The Care Newcomer Award.

Despite only joining us a few months ago, Sarah has already made a remarkable impact not just on her colleagues and the people she supports, but on the culture of the Ripley, Belper and West Hallam team as a whole.

A Natural Carer With a Heart for People

Sarah came to Premier Community from the hospitality sector, but you’d never know she was new to the care sector. She stepped into the role with empathy, confidence, and a natural ability to connect with others.

As a mum of children with additional needs, Sarah brings a level of understanding, patience, and adaptability that can’t be taught. She instinctively adjusts her approach to suit each service user, ensuring everyone feels respected, comfortable, and in control.

Her colleagues often comment on how seamlessly she’s fitted into the team, and how her positivity makes even the busiest shifts feel manageable.

“I feel very honoured and proud,” Sarah shared when talking about her nomination.

And rightly so.

Living Our Values Every Day

What makes Sarah truly exceptional is how effortlessly she embodies Premier Community’s values, being grounded, hardworking, honest and compassionate—in every visit. Whether she’s staying a little longer to make sure someone feels settled or offering a reassuring word on a tough day, her kindness never goes unnoticed.

When she found out she’d been nominated, she told us she was “happy and then cried when my care coordinator told me what had been said about me.”

Those genuine, humble moments capture exactly who she is: someone who doesn’t realise just how good she is at her job.

Making a Big Impact in a Short Time

In just a few short months, Sarah has built trust with service users, connected deeply with families, and earned the admiration of her colleagues. Many have said she deserves this award because she’s not just doing the job; she’s doing it with heart.

Her friendly nature and willingness to learn have made her a valued team member. Even though she’s nervous about attending the awards night, her colleagues and service users will be cheering her on from home.

A Bright Future Ahead

Sarah may see herself as “just happy to be doing and enjoying the job,” but we see so much more. We see a newcomer who has found her calling. A carer who brings calm, compassion, and confidence to every visit. A colleague who uplifts others simply by being herself.

And above all, we see someone who fully deserves to be recognised.

Congratulations, Sarah; we’re proud to have you as part of the Premier Community.
