Some carers change lives quietly, consistently, and with a level of dedication that is nothing short of extraordinary. Kerry Hibbert is one of those people, a truly outstanding home care worker who embodies all the Premier Community values.
Kerry has only been in care for just over two years, but you’d never know it. In that short time, she has become one of the most respected, trusted, and admired members of her team. Her humility says it all when she learned she’d been nominated, she described herself as “humbled and surprised… I don’t feel like I do anything out of the ordinary.”
A Carer Who Goes Above and Beyond Every Single Time
Kerry is the colleague you want by your side during the toughest moments. She’s the one who will stay with a service user until 1 or 2am when an ambulance is delayed, making sure they are safe, comfortable, and never left alone. In her own words, there have been nights where she has phoned emergency services at 4pm and only walked through her own front door at 2:30am.
Another time, she waited until midnight for a 111 call-back, not because she had to, but because she refused to leave someone without reassurance.
Colleagues remember her arriving with drinks and a phone charger so they could both get through an unexpectedly long shift supporting someone in need.
As one team member put it:
“She’s an absolute superstar.”
A Joy to Work With and a Rock for New Starters
Kerry doesn’t just support service users she supports the team around her. New carers often talk about how she helps them settle in, showing them the ropes calmly and kindly, helping them find both their feet and their confidence.
A recent new starter shared:
“Kerry has been super helpful over the last week, kindly and calmly showing me the ropes.”
Her colleagues describe her as:
“A delight to work with. Nothing is too much trouble.”
She brings calm to stressful situations and reassurance to those who need it most. Those qualities make her not only a brilliant carer, but a role model within the team.
Living Premier Community’s Values Every Day
Everything Kerry does reflects Premier Community’s core values, being grounded, hardworking, compassionate and honest. She is dependable, patient, and endlessly willing to help.
Even when speaking about her nomination, her humility shines through. She told us she couldn’t believe it because of “the standard of carers we have it’s an honour to have been nominated.”
And in true Kerry fashion, she insisted on adding:
“There is no I in team. I’m surrounded by great carers, great service users, and amazing support from the office.”
That spirit, the belief that care is a team effort, is what makes her so special.
A Well-Deserved Nominee
Kerry may feel she doesn’t do anything extraordinary, but we know better. She is the person others rely on. The person who stays, who listens, who cares deeply, and who always goes the extra mile without ever expecting recognition.
Her warmth, skill, and commitment change lives every day and that is exactly why she deserves her place as a Home Care Worker Award nominee.
Congratulations, Kerry. We are so proud to have you as part of Premier Community
