Community Care Assistant – Making a Real Difference at Home
At Premier Community, our Community Care Assistants play a vital role in helping people live safely, comfortably, and independently in their own homes. As an award-winning family business with over 29 years of experience, we are proud to deliver high-quality, person-centred care that truly puts people first.
Role and responsibilities
Community Care Assistant
As a Community Care Assistant, you are much more than a carer. You are a trusted presence, a source of reassurance, and a key part of each individual’s daily life.
Working within our Care Delivery team, you will provide tailored support that reflects the unique needs, preferences, and routines of every service user.
Care Assistants are recruited with a focus on working close to where you live. During onboarding, we gather detailed information about your:
- Preferred working areas
- Availability and travel distance
- Skills, experience, and training needs.
This allows us to align each Care Assistant with the most appropriate local branch from the outset.
Example of Daily Tasks
Your role focuses on delivering compassionate, practical, and dignified care within the community. This includes:
- Personal and companionship care
Supporting individuals with daily personal care while promoting dignity, independence, and emotional wellbeing. Just as importantly, you’ll offer companionship, conversation, and a friendly face that can make a real difference to someone’s day. - Medication supervision and medical support
Assisting with medication prompts or administration in line with care plans, and supporting service users with ongoing health needs to help them remain safe at home. - Meal preparation and nutrition support
Preparing and cooking meals that meet dietary requirements and personal preferences, ensuring service users enjoy nutritious food as part of a healthy routine. - Household support and errands
Helping with light housework, food shopping, and running errands to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment.
Above all, your work enables people to remain independent, confident, and secure in the place they know best, their own home.
Support, Training, and Career Development
We believe exceptional care starts with well-supported teams. As a Community Care Assistant at Premier Community, you will receive access to an innovative training programme designed to equip you with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to deliver professional care.
After a successful interview, you will be invited to commence your online training modules, which cover the core principles of caring and information regarding our policy and procedures.
The online training modules complements our hands-on training, which takes place in our fully equipped training room at our Head Office based in Mansfield.
Whether you are experienced in care or new to the sector, our comprehensive onboarding and ongoing support ensure you never feel alone.
You will be part of a close-knit, values-driven team that champions respect, dignity, and kindness, not only for our service users, but for each other.
Flexible Working and Competitive Pay
We generally work around two shift patterns: Our morning shift operates from 6.45am-2.30pm, and our afternoon shifts run from 3.30pm-10.30pm in the evening.
Although we usually ask for a mixture of shift availability, we understand that everyone’s circumstances are different. That’s why we work with you to build a contract that fits your lifestyle, whether you’re looking for full-time, part-time, or bank work.
We offer an industry-leading pay structure, with competitive hourly rates starting from £14.85 per hour* (as of December 2025) and additional enhancements for unsocial hours and bank holidays, alongside a range of employee benefits and salary protections.
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applicants with experience in care settings such as nursing homes, residential care, or support work. We also encourage applications from those new to care, as your life experience, empathy, and willingness to learn are just as valuable.
If you are compassionate, reliable, and passionate about helping others live independently, a career as a Community Care Assistant with Premier Community could be the perfect fit.

Real stories from our Community Care Assistants
Being a care assistant is very rewarding. There can be difficult times, but these are mainly outweighed by the positives.
We help support in areas of our service user’s life, which they can no longer manage alone. For many, we are a lifeline promoting their independence, well-being and their safety

As an Expert by Experience, I provide knowledge and support to new starters that have joined our team.
I started without any experience in care and knew nothing about it. With the support of my own Expert by Experience, I am so grateful I started this job and it’s the best thing I ever did.
