Meet the Amber Valley Care Team: Sabrina Bennett

Sabrina Bennett - Registered Branch Manager for Amber Valley Care Team

Sabrina Bennett is our Registered Branch Manager supporting the Amber Valley Care Teams.

After joining us as a carer in June 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sabrina fell in love with both the job and the people she was helping.

We caught up with Sabrina to follow her journey to becoming a Registered Branch Manager and learn more about her.

Tell us about your experience prior to joining Premier Community…

“I spent most of my career in hospitality training and management, but when COVID-19 struck, I joined Premier Community as a carer. I quickly fell in love with the job and the people I was helping – it was so rewarding.

“After a year working in the field, I was promoted to Team Manager at the Nottinghamshire branch, where I supported the branch and worked out of hours. I really enjoyed working closely with all the carers and supporting them on a daily basis.

“When the role of Registered Manager for Derbyshire South became available, I knew it was perfect for me. I could use my previous management skills, as well as everything I had learned from working in the field and in the office, to pursue my dream career of supporting our service users and staff.”

“As the service area for South Derbyshire expanded it has since become necessary to divide this location into two separate locations – one for Amber Valley and one for Erewash, which is now covered by my former deputy RM Nikita Sargeant.”

Since joining us, what qualifications have you gained in Health & Social Care?

“With the support I have received from Premier Community, I have completed my Level 3 in Health and Social care, and I am due to finish my Level 5 in Health & Social care management at the start of next year.”

Can you describe a typical day for you as the Amber Valley Care Team Manager?

“There are lots of different aspects to my role as CQC Registered Branch Manager for the Amber Valley Care Team, but I prioritise addressing any concerns raised by our dedicated carers in a timely manner and taking appropriate steps to support them and our service users.

“Another big part of my job is to create comprehensive care plans for our staff to use so that they can provide the best care possible.

“In order to do this effectively, it’s vital to maintain regular communication with other professionals, including social workers, district nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure that our service users’ records are up-to-date with the latest risk assessments, medicines, and type of care necessary to help support them with living independently at home.”

What do you enjoy most about working at Premier Community?

“Working in this job is incredibly rewarding. I have the pleasure of working alongside so many amazing people, and it truly feels like we are a family.

“Even on tough days, we all come together to support each other and our service users. I am constantly impressed by the selflessness and dedication of my colleagues.”

Tell us a bit about yourself outside of work…

“I am happily married to my best friend, Scott, who means everything to me. We have two beautiful children, and we love spending time with them, going for walks, shopping, and hanging out with family and friends.

“I am a social butterfly and feel blessed to have such a great network of friends who I see as often as possible. I recently bought my forever home, so I’m currently spending a lot of time making it perfect.

“My favourite day out would be visiting York, as it reminds me of the magical world of Harry Potter, which I absolutely love. I especially adore the Christmas market, the most magical time of the year.

“Additionally, I have a huge passion for Orcas and often spend my time researching them. I have been interested in these since around the age of 6. I am also involved in different charities that support the conservation of these magnificent creatures. I am very blessed to have such a wonderful life and career that I adore.”
