Premier Community Care Staff Join Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk at Clumber Park

Team Premier at Alzheimer's society memory walk

On Sunday, the beautiful grounds of Clumber Park in Worksop became a sea of blue t-shirts, supportive cheers, and determined steps as people came together for the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk. Among the crowds, our very own Premier Community Care staff proudly joined in, showing their commitment to outstanding care at work and their passion for supporting causes that matter deeply to the families and service users we walk alongside every day.

Why We Walked

The Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk is an annual event held nationwide to raise awareness and vital funds for dementia support and research. With more than 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK, and numbers set to rise, the need for greater understanding, compassion, and breakthroughs in treatment has never been more urgent.

At Premier Community, many of the people we care for are affected by dementia, either directly or through a loved one. For our staff, the Memory Walk was more than a Sunday challenge. It was a chance to show solidarity with those individuals and families, and to support the work of Alzheimer’s Society in helping to ensure no one faces dementia alone.

The Challenge at Clumber Park

The event offered walkers two routes through the scenic parkland: a family-friendly short walk and a longer challenge route. Whatever the distance, each step was filled with purpose and community spirit.

Our Premier Community team took part with humour and determination, even when the going got tough. As one colleague, Nicole B, shared afterwards:

“The best day, all of us who took part smashed it. It was a walk full of laughter and some struggles, but it was a way to remember those who have passed and those who are suffering. I did the walk for my great-grandparents, my partner’s grandad, and all of the community service users we care for.”

For some, the walk brought its aches and pains. Hips, ankles, and knees all got a workout, but the team spirit kept everyone moving. As Marguerite H put it:

“Brilliant day, laughs and struggles. The struggles came after the walk! I think we’d all say that even with the injuries, we’d do it again.”

Team Spirit on Display

What stood out most on the day was the laughter, encouragement, and camaraderie among our team. Even when tiredness set in, jokes and smiles kept everyone going.

Rebecca H. described her highlights on the family-friendly ‘smaller’ route:

“That was still hard work, especially with the little one, but she was proud to get her medal afterwards. We even had a game of hiding in the trees to get around, but it was all part of the fun!”

Teresa M. added her own motivation for taking part:

“I did the walk for all of our service users and their families who are suffering from Alzheimer’s. I had the best day with the girls who took part, even if half of us came back with injuries!”

Meanwhile, Lionie P. reflected on the bigger picture: “I took part for my grandad and our service users and their families. It was an absolutely fantastic day, with so many laughs throughout, and I’d definitely do it again.”

From everyone’s stories, it was clear that the event was about more than just completing a walk. It was about remembering loved ones, supporting each other, and being proud to represent Premier Community in such an important cause.

Care Beyond the Job

At Premier Community, our mission has always been to provide high-quality, compassionate home care that reflects our family values of respect and dignity, trust and transparency, and innovation. But our staff continually shows that their care extends far beyond the job description.

Whether through their daily work supporting service users or stepping out into the community to raise awareness and funds, they demonstrate what caring looks like: teamwork, empathy, and heart.

Looking Forward

The Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk at Clumber Park was a day to remember—for the miles walked, the laughter shared, and the cause supported. But for our staff, it was also a reminder of why we do what we do: dementia touches so many lives, and together, we can make a difference.

We’re incredibly proud of all our staff who took part, showing once again that at Premier Community Care, caring is not just what we do—it’s who we are.
