Happy 101st Birthday, Ezra! 🎉 

Today, we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating a truly remarkable milestone as one of our wonderful service users, Ezra, turned an incredible 101 years young. 

To mark the occasion, Tracy, who leads Ezra’s care team, paid him a special birthday visit on behalf of everyone at Premier Community, bringing with her a small gift and plenty of birthday wishes. As always, Ezra was in fantastic spirits, welcoming everyone with his trademark humour and that unmistakable cheeky glint in his eye. 

It was heartwarming to hear that his birthday has been filled with kindness. His lovely neighbours have been popping in throughout the day to celebrate with him, and he even received a special phone call from his son all the way from New Zealand. Moments like these are a beautiful reminder that friendship, family and community can span any distance. 

Of course, we couldn’t leave without asking Ezra the all-important question… 

“What’s the secret to living to 101?” 

Without missing a beat, he smiled and replied: 

“A shot of honey, topped with a thimble of whiskey!” 

We’ll let you decide whether that’s the recipe for a long life… but its working for Ezra! 

Ezra is well known by our care team for his quick wit, honest nature and wonderful sense of humour. He’s a straight talker with a strong spirit, and after beginning work down the pit at just 14 years old, he’s witnessed over a century of extraordinary change. Through it all, he’s remained resilient, grounded and full of character. 

It’s people like Ezra who remind us that every life has an incredible story to tell. We feel privileged to play a small part in his journey and to celebrate moments like today alongside him.
