Act 28 of 30: Langold FC Under 15s Winter Coats, Sorted
For Act 28 of our 30 for 30 campaign, we’re backing another brilliant grassroots team.
The players at Langold FC Under 15s had identified something they really needed for the colder months: proper all-weather coats to keep them warm at training and on the sidelines during matches.
Rather than simply asking for help, the team got fundraising.
They organised a Lads vs Parents match, raising an impressive £280 towards their target.
And, perhaps more importantly, the lads also earned bragging rights.
The final score?
Lads 3, Adults 2
Alfie, goalkeeper for Langold Under 15s, said:
“This season I joined Langold Under 15s. As a grassroots team, we rely on fundraising and donations to get the things we need.
“We identified that we needed to raise money for all-weather coats so we can keep training through the colder and wetter months, and stay warm on the sidelines while supporting our teammates.
“We decided to organise a kids versus adults match to raise some money. It was really good to take part in and the kids won 3-2.
“The adults usually shout the orders from the sidelines, so it was good to see them in action. Winning made it even better. We raised £280, and the best part was watching the adults run out of steam!”
After hearing how much effort the players, parents and volunteers had put into the fundraiser, we wanted to give their total another boost.
As part of our 30 for 30 campaign, Premier Community is donating a further £250 towards the team’s winter coats.
Grassroots football relies on people giving their time, energy and support, and it plays such an important role in communities like Langold.
It gives young people somewhere to belong, friendships to build and memories that last well beyond the final whistle.
So, well done to every player, parent and volunteer who helped make the fundraiser happen.
And to the adults?
There’s always the rematch.
Stay warm this winter, Langold FC Under 15s. We’re proud to be cheering you on.
