Get Cosy for Autumn – Premier Community’s Shop Managers Guide

Lady sat on her riser recliner smiling at her ipad

As autumn settles in, the days grow shorter, evenings arrive sooner, and temperatures dip. For many people, this season is an ideal time to create routines that blend comfort with wellness. A good riser recliner can make those cosy moments more supportive, easing aches, boosting circulation, and helping you to unwind at the end of the day.

We asked our Branch Managers which Rise & Recliners they would recommend to their customers when they come through the shop door looking for the perfect lift chair for the colder months ahead. As well as any accessories that might pair perfectly with the recliner.

Choosing the Right Riser Recliner for Your Needs

Kate – Kings Mill Hospital, Mansfield

Kate, Branch Manager of Kings Mill store, shared that they would most definitely offer “the Balmoral Premier Plus or Monmouth in this instance. These chairs offer two heat settings as well as two seat memory functions, ensuring the user would be warm and comfortable on a cool autumn evening.”

To pair with your cosy chair for the autumn, Kate has also recommended the Able2 Over Chair Table. Kate adds: “This table is ideal for puzzle enthusiasts, readers, etc, as it has a deep lip to the top and bottom of the tabletop, to keep things in place even when inclined at an angle. The sides have no obstructions, so you could easily attach a clip light to help with vision on these darker evenings.”

Maureen – Woodseats, Sheffield

You can also head to our Woodseats store and visit Maureen, the Branch Manager who has similarly recommended The Balmoral Premier Plus. Maureen shares that “The Balmoral we have in-store is a great chair, with its heated lumber and seat cushion, it is ideal as the cooler weather approaches, instead of putting the heating on and heating the whole house, you can press a button, and the heated cushions will provide a comforting warmth as you sit and relax.”

If these features weren’t convincing enough Maureen further added that, “You can also change the position of the head rest and lumber cushions to fit comfortably to your posture, making this chair a unique comfortable and cosy chair. One of our customers said that they had to decide whether to put the heating on or buy food, this chair made it possible to be warm and comfortable at home without worrying about the cost.”

Lynne- Ilkeston, Derbyshire

Lynne, Branch Manager of the Ilkeston store, has recommended the Dorchester Riser Recliner. Lynne has shared her expert knowledge on the product with us and states this is a “comfortable chair which comes in three sizes and has two different backs. You have the waterfall back, which gives great comfort, and you have the lateral back which has built in side cushions which are fantastic if you need a little extra support as it will enable the user to stay more upright.

“Both chairs have the extra feature of extra lumbar support, and you can alter the head rest for maximum comfort while laying down. Both chairs lay flat for those afternoon naps, and they also rise to a height which will give full assistance for standing. I have been told by a customer that it is the best purchase he has made and has many a time fallen asleep in his chair due to it being so relaxing.”

Jayne – Carlton, Nottingham

Another recommendation comes from Jayne, the Branch Manager of the Carlton store, who suggests a comfortable option at the more affordable end of the price range.

Jayne shared “For customers who are on a budget I would recommend The Drive Indiana Chair, which is on display at The Carlton Store, at an affordable price. It’s a comfortable, cosy chair with minimal controls which is ideal if it’s for someone that doesn’t like too many buttons to press. The colours are very neutral too so easily fits in with existing decor.”

Paula – Swadlincote, Derbyshire

Paula, Branch Manager of Swadlincote store, shared some insight with us as to what she considers when a customer is wanting to purchase a Riser Recliner. “I will always seek out information from them first to determine what they are looking for in a new chair. I find this helps me to choose a best fit as all of our rise and recliners are wonderful.

“I feel that as a perfect addition to a chair at this time of year, I would always recommend a nice warm blanket and a heat pad to ward of any winter aches and pains. We can always help with sourcing these things.”

As for products available from us, Paula recommends two great items. “For some customers, I will sometimes recommend a waterproof cover if they feel that would be helpful. We do a range of waterproof chair covers but the Vida Washable Chair Pad at just £12.66 is a godsend to protect your lovely new chair against spills and accidents.

“As a final addition to get you set up for autumn, you can’t beat a lovely new pair of Cosyfeet Slippers which are all available from our stores or online. They come in several styles and widths to accommodate all foot types.”

All the recommendations shared above are available for purchase at a Premier Community Mobility Shop near you, or you can order online via our website. At the moment, we are also offering 10% off all our Riser Recliners for the month of October 2025 only.

Experience the difference of trusted expertise and genuine aftercare

Our team understands mobility because we’ve seen first hand how the right equipment transforms everyday life. Through years of supporting our customers, we’ve learned what truly makes a difference, products that improve confidence, comfort, and independence, backed by aftercare you can always rely on.

Kate shares: “Our previous customers have come back to us with feedback, stating that they have gained, previously lost independence, due to not needing a family member or carer to help them out of the chair.

“They are feeling more relaxed and have found that aches and pains have been reduced and circulation has improved thanks to the multiple positions you can choose from on the Dorchester model.”

Similarly, Jayne adds: “Customer’s usually say how comfortable the chairs are and how nice it is to relax with your legs and feet raised in an evening while watching TV. They also comment on how much easier it is to get up from the chair when raised as they don’t have to struggle to stand from the seated position.”
