The First Wave of PEG Training Completed at Premier Community

Premier Community Carers undergo PEG Training

Recently, we had our Shirebrook Care Team in at Premier Community Head Quarters to participate in some specialised training to enhance their skills and knowledge in PEG Tube Feeding. The session was with Chesterfield Homeward Nurses, who are part of Nutricia, who specialise in supporting people with a Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube.

Twelve team members, including both experienced and new carers, attended the PEG Training which received an overwhelmingly positive response. One of the carers shared that the training significantly boosted their confidence in addressing the new care provision, while another expressed genuine enthusiasm about the prospect of offering support to service users through this method.

The training provided the team with the necessary skills and knowledge about PEG feeding, which is crucial when caring for those service users who have previously required specialised nursing care to remain in their own homes. It also assists our staff in further enhancing their current skill set, which is something we are dedicated to in order to nurture the growth of our staff’s development.

Overall, the training proved to be immensely beneficial for our team as we look forward to keep providing further support through similar initiatives that continuously allow our wonderful carers skills and knowledge to grow therefore giving Premier Community the opportunity to provide support to service users who require specialised help for instance PEG Feeding.
