At Premier Community, our carers go above and beyond every day, not just for the people they support, but for the wider community too. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to shine a light on Sue, one of our compassionate carers for Clowne, Cresswell and Whitwell, who has been fundraising for Mental Health UK.
Why Mental Health UK?
Mental health affects every family, every workplace, and every community, even when it isn’t visible. For Sue, this cause is especially close to home.
Through both her personal experiences and supporting loved ones, Sue understands just how real mental health challenges are, even when they’re hidden from view. She also sees, first-hand, how closely mental and physical well-being are linked, and how vital awareness, understanding, and support truly are.
Sue believes there still isn’t enough conversation, awareness, or accessible support around mental health, and that’s exactly why she chose to fundraise for Mental Health UK.
Sue’s Fundraising Efforts
At the start of 2026, Sue pledged to move 28 Miles in February for Mental Health UK, whether that’s by running, walking or cycling. For her, this fundraising is about doing her ‘little bit’ to help shine a light on mental health and contribute to meaningful change.
Balancing her caring role alongside fundraising, Sue’s commitment, compassion, and determination have been truly inspiring to colleagues and clients alike.
“I have always been a supporter of mental health, this is something that’s close to home,” explains Sue.
“Being someone who is going through this, and having loved ones going through it too, I know how real it is. Mental health can be hidden, but it’s so real. I feel there isn’t enough awareness or support, so this is me doing my little bit to help. Let’s end the stigma around mental health! It’s ok to not be ok.”
Making a Real Difference
Every pound raised helps Mental Health UK continue its essential work, from early intervention and crisis support to national awareness campaigns.
Sue’s efforts are a powerful reminder that caring goes beyond practical support. It’s also about empathy, advocacy, and helping to end the stigma surrounding mental health. By speaking openly and taking action, Sue is helping to create a culture where it truly is ok to not be ok.
Thank You, Sue
