Act 2 of 30: Jenna’s Strength in Steps for Breast Cancer Now

Jenna & the team

As part of our 30 for 30 campaign, we’re proud to share our second act of community support, which is a powerful story of family, determination and community spirit.

For Act 2 of 30, Premier Community donated £250 to support Jenna Rovetto, a member of our care team, and her group of family and friends as they took on a charity hike for Breast Cancer Now.

Jenna nominated the fundraiser after her mum was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. In her nomination, Jenna shared that the team had come together to walk in support of her mum, raising funds through their team page, Strength in Steps. At the time of nomination, the team had already raised £280 and were hoping sponsorship could help them go even further.

On Saturday 17 May, Jenna and the team joined the Pink Ribbon Walk at Chatsworth House, taking on a challenging 10-mile hike through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Dressed in pink and walking alongside hundreds of others, the team stepped out with purpose, raising awareness and vital funds for Breast Cancer Now.

Premier Community was pleased to contribute £250 towards their fundraising efforts, helping the team reach an incredible total of £1,500.  Reflecting on the day, Jenna said:

“It was very tough but we did it 🎉! We did 10 miles. I did come in last with our group lol but I was chuffed I managed to finish even though I felt crap. I was tempted to turn round after mile 2 😩 lol. Mum also met Lisa Riley, she was chuffed lol.”

And honestly, that says it all.

This was not just a walk. It was a proper boots-on-the-grass, heart-in-your-throat, keep-going-even-when-it’s-hard kind of effort. The sort of challenge that shows what love can do when it puts one foot in front of the other.

Jenna’s story is exactly why we launched 30 for 30.

As Premier Community celebrates its 30th birthday, we’re supporting 30 people, charities, groups and community causes nominated by our staff and teams. These nominations come from the people who know their communities best, and Jenna’s fundraiser is a brilliant example of the personal, meaningful causes close to the hearts of our colleagues.

We know there will be many more than 30 wonderful opportunities to support, and while we won’t be able to help everyone, every nomination will be received with care and appreciation.

For our first donation, we’re proud to stand beside Jenna, her mum, and the Strength in Steps team.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, donated, supported and cheered them on.
What a way to begin our 30 for 30 journey 💙
