Meet Charmaine, Store Assistant at our new Alfreton Mobility Shop

We would like to welcome Charmaine Langley to the Premier Community Mobility team. Charmaine first joined Premier Community as a carer in the Erewash area in July 2026, before moving into her role as Store Assistant at our new Alfreton Mobility Shop on 20th October.

With experience in care both in the UK and overseas, Charmaine brings an understanding of how the right support can make a difference to peopleโ€™s everyday lives.

From care to mobility

Charmaineโ€™s move into mobility is another way for her to support people in maintaining their independence. Her experience in care has shown her how much the right equipment can help.

โ€œFrom working in the USA in care for six years and now in the UK I have seen the difference in people’s lives as they discover how much easier and pain free it is to have the right tools.โ€

That experience connects directly to what she hopes to achieve in her new role, helping customers find products that support their daily routines.

โ€œIt is great to know that I am part of a team that helps our customers to be as independent as long as they can. Giving them the right tools to go on as normal as possible.โ€

Getting our Alfreton shop ready

Joining a brand new shop has meant a busy start for Charmaine, with plenty to get involved in ahead of opening.

โ€œAs we have been busy with the opening of our brand new shop, I have not had a typical day. Been busy unpacking all our product. Learning about mobility scooters. Been out leaflet dropping and just generally getting us known in Alfreton.โ€

From unpacking products to helping introduce Premier Community to the local area, Charmaine has been part of getting the shop ready to welcome customers.

Proud moments in everyday care

When asked about a highlight from her time at Premier Community, Charmaine reflects on the everyday moments she experienced as a carer.

โ€œIn care every day is a proud moment. Seeing the smile on people’s faces when you walk through their door and leaving knowing you have taken care of them in the best possible way.โ€

Itโ€™s this appreciation for the difference a caring approach can make that she brings with her to the Alfreton team.

Family values at heart

The Premier Community value that resonates most with Charmaine is family, and for her, that extends beyond relatives.

โ€œFamily values. Family always comes first. Family does not always have to be blood relatives. Family is who you love and care for.โ€

Her three words to describe herself would be kind, supportive and loyal these reflect the importance she places on being there for others.

Get to know Charmaine

Outside of work, Charmaine enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading and taking long walks with her little dog.

She has also lived in several different countries and has her sights set on another destination for the future.

โ€œI have lived in a few different countries. Would like to retire in Italy.โ€
