Act 20 of 30: Rob’s Dream Trip to the Theatre of Dreams 

For Act 20 of our 30 for 30 campaign, we helped make one very special birthday wish come true. 

Rob is a huge Manchester United fan, so we arranged a day out to Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams, with his carer Jessica. 

Premier Community covered the cost of the stadium tour, Rob’s Manchester United shirt, Jessica’s time supporting him and the fuel for the journey, meaning the whole experience could simply be about giving Rob a brilliant day to remember. 

And it certainly delivered. 

Rob explored the Manchester United Museum, learned more about the club’s history, visited areas including the Directors’ Box and walked down the players’ tunnel at Old Trafford. The official tour takes supporters behind the scenes to areas including the dressing room, tunnel, pitchside and museum, bringing the history of the club to life.  

One part of the visit that particularly captured Rob’s attention was learning about the Munich Air Disaster of 1958, a defining and deeply significant part of Manchester United’s history. The club’s museum includes a dedicated Munich Room remembering the 23 people who lost their lives.  

Of course, no trip to Old Trafford would be complete without the shirt. 

Rob proudly wore a Manchester United top with his favourite player’s name on the back, adding one more special touch to a day already packed with memorable moments. 

Jessica, who accompanied Rob, summed the day up perfectly: 

Rob said it was a dream come true yesterday, which is lovely because he can sometimes struggle to talk about how he feels. He loved the history, the museum, the Directors’ Box and walking down the tunnel.” 

There was even a slightly rocky start to proceedings when Jessica accidentally told Rob they were heading to Manchester City. 

For around half an hour of the journey she thought the surprise had gone spectacularly wrong, until a quick stop to double-check revealed that, thankfully, they were heading to the right side of Manchester after all. 😂 

By the end of the day, there was no doubt about it. 

Rob’s trip to the Theatre of Dreams really was a dream come true. 

For us, this is exactly what 30 for 30 is about. Creating moments that matter, helping people experience something special and finding thoughtful ways to celebrate the people at the heart of Premier Community.
